Good photo good close up
Denosha: Thanks. I spent quite a long time watching this fella, hoping it would come closer and out of the harsh mid-day light but I could only get 1 out of 2 of those things.
tough lighting in the middle of the day.
needs some post processing to make it sing a little
cheers

Denosha: Yeah, the lighting was terrible. The water was reflecting a lot of light. I already did some post processing to suppress the highlights and bring up the shadows. Didn't want to overdo it. Do you suppose I could have pushed it some more?
Denosha, hard to say. Certainly it's a tough shot to start with. Are you shooting RAW? The other method is to duplicat ethe layer and mask out some of the real harsh stuff.
The other is to go back and do it again.... (preferred method)
Looking at it more closely, you've done nice post processing job already. Knowing when to stop is half the battle. I think there's a bit more in there.
20D, ISO200 .... worth a tweak or two!!
If this was taken in SGP, I am guessing it's not a push to get back there to try again. I believe in going back as often as I can to places to get the best images I can.
Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Cheers
